It's a Disease

I've finally figured it out. Liberalism isn't an ideology, a belief, a standard, a religion, a way of thinking, or anything along those lines. It's a disease, pure and simple. Why do I say this? I'll tell you. I decided I needed to see what the other half of the country was thinking, so I browsed some liberal blogs today. Wow. I knew there was going to be whining and fingerpointing, but to see the venom that is being unleashed right now is shocking, really shocking. I guess I had some naive thought that under the circumstances, we could all find some common ground... you know, caring about people that are dying. I guess I was wrong. No, I don't guess; I know I was wrong. People are manipulating this situation for purely political reasons. They are blaming the government and, more specifically, President Bush for what happened in the south. It started with just a few voices here and there, but it has quickly spread. It's a disease.

Now, if the government had the power to control weather patterns, to cease the mighty power of nature, and to know the future, I would certainly agree; this would be all their fault. But guess what... THEY DON'T HAVE THESE POWERS! Only God has those powers guys, and if you want to take this up with God, that's your business. Don't be stupid. The government could in no way stop the storm or prepare the people any more than they did. They told the people to get away from the coast, and many did. On the other hand, many couldn't, whether it be because of poverty or whatever other reasons. I find it incredible that people wonder why the government didn't get everyone out of the city. I'm sorry, but there aren't any buses that seat a million people yet. And then there are the people saying that there wasn't enough food for the people in the Superdome. We're talking about an emergency situation that comes down to the span of a few hours. Things cannot be put together that quickly. The simple fact that so many people were ushered safely into the Superdome in that short amount of time is a miracle in itself.

Now that I've said that, I want to clarify one thing. I stand by my assertion that liberalism is a disease. However, I would not go so far as to say that all liberals stand by the views that I have just discounted. There are compassionate liberals, make no mistake. Even Clinton is showing true compassion now. We need that compassion more than ever right now. People are dying and we need to cut this political junk.

Comments:
You visited one of my blogs www.letourvoicesbeheard.blogspot.com and that's how I got your url. I like your blog as well and agree with your views. I must say though that it's futile to wish for the people of this country to come together. It's a hard and cold fact that the left-wing liberals and their companions, the media, are going to fight against Christians and Repbulicans with everything they have got. There was an article in a newspaper out of San Antonio (sorry, I don't have the url) that said the Christians of Texas weren't doing anything. I'm in Texas. My church and many others are going all out to feed, clothe, house, and find jobs for people from New Orleans. To say we are not doing anything is an outright lie, especially for a newspaper out of San Antonio that knows what is going on here! I haven't seen anything on the National News about the efforts being made by Christians in Texas or in this country. They don't want to broadcast anything positive about us. It's dispicable!

I just posted a comment, but forgot to give you the url for my other blog www.myrepublicanblog.blogspot.com
I thought you might be interested in the last article I posted there.

interesting. Just to let you know, Conservatives for American Values is satrical. I saw you comment on there, and I wanted to get to you before they thrash you. remember the rule of that site: If you disagree with any of prophet micheal's comments you are a pagan liberal. lol thats their agenda.

Well, I can't speak for all other liberals, so I will just speak for myself. George W. Bush bears the blame for the Federal Government's lack of response for several reasons. First, he appointed Brown as head of FEMA, a position for which Brown's only qualification was that he was a fund raiser for Bush's campaigns. Second, on Monday and Tuesday, while this disaster was occurring, Bush chose instead to spend his days pandering to his base for political support on the Iraq war. Now, regardless of how you feel about the war (I was and remain against it), you at least have to acknowledge what an irresponsible use of his time that was. Third, and perhaps most egregious, was the utter lack of preparation for such a disaster. What if this had been another terrorist attack? Clearly Bush and the Department of Homeland Security were ill-equipped to handle a disaster of this magnitude, which flies right in the face of Bush's image as the President bringing safety and security to the United States. Even as a staunch Bush opponent, I expected the response of agencies under the control of Bush appointees to be much better. After all, organization was once a Republican bellweather. Obviously, as the GOP continues to be eaten away by its Conservative Christian social ideology and one-trick economic policy (tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts), the fissures left behind are beginning to show.
All liberalism means is that we look for new and innovative ways to deal with social and political issues. It does not, as Rush Limbaugh would have one believe, mean anything with which the Republican party disagrees.

Nicely said, samurai.

therightchoice05,
Right back at you with the thanks for the blog visit. I wanted to respond to the comment you left on my site.
I certainly don't blame anyone at any level of the government for the hurricane's destructon. My point is that, regardless of the cause of the disaster, the necessary response is largely the same and thus far the various government responses have been woefully inadequate. I pin the lion's share of responsibility on President Bush, not because I'm partisan (which I am) but because all the reports coming from the area describe a woeful lack of leadership to organize the response. Leadership is Bush's primary job; that's why he is the President. I don't think for one moment that Mayor Nagin or Governor Landrieu will escape blame either, especially given that Nagin has today ordered all remaining citizens in New Orleans removed whether they wish to be or not, a PR nightmare.
Further, the hurricane hitting New Orleans was predicted at least 5 days in advance and the deficiency of the levee system in NO has been talked about for years and still the Bush Administration's response was a clear failure of leadership. I have to wonder if conservatives and Republicans alike would be nearly so charitable to the Executive if Al Gore or John Kerry were President; somehow, I seriously doubt it. I think perhaps the deeper problem lies in expecting to have effective government programs that are overseen by the party of "Less Government". How can you have effective Republican-controlled federal agencies when the Republican party platform is one of distrust and contempt for federal government programs? The very existence of FEMA must cause at least some cognitive dissonance among the party leaders, I would think.
One final point: I don't mean to blame Christianity for any certain problem. My point is that the Republican party's focus on issues like gay marriage and various faith-based initiatives (the Justice Sundays come to mind) have been a distraction from more pressing issues and that these social/moral concerns have been used for years to score easy political points with the Republican base.
After the disaster of Hurricane Katrina, the United States needed a decisive, attentive leader and we just didn't get that in George W. Bush. Instead, we got some photo ops, some stump speeches and some bungled leadership directly due to political cronyism.

isn't liberalism a disease that is spreading though? Think about the last 100 years, liberalisation of marriage, divorce and adultery, homosexuality becomes more acceptable, the media being mainly liberal and many more women in centre's of power and the Bible Stories having less and less importance in the world

No matter what rhetoric you use, when you look at the last century's politics and policies it is undeniable that liberalism is happening and accellerating as the masses have more access to their own media.

The right will fall.

To Anonymous: "The right will fall."

No... a backlash is happening in this country. The left lost the last two elections. Conservatives are pulling their heads out of the sand and waking up as to where liberalism is taking us. It isn't a place where we want to go. I think there are more Conservatives out there, at least in the United States, than anyone realizes.

I'll buy that liberalism is a disease if you'll buy that conservatism is its sick cousin.

The cure:

Love God.

Love people.

Love all of God's creation.

Do justice and walk humbly before your God.
